Health Unit Coordinator
About the role
The 16-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at South Pointe Hospital treats patients suffering from various conditions that require advanced medical, surgical and cardiac care. As Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will offer unparalleled customer service to patients, families and visitors to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
- Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
- Absorb and process patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
- Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
- Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of experience in a customer service-related role
- Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework
Preferred qualifications
- College degree
- Microsoft Office experience
Physical Requirements
- Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
- Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Pay
Minimum hourly: $20.75 Maximum hourly: $20.75 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
