About the role
Join the Biologics by McKesson team as a Senior Patient Services Associate, where you'll play a vital role in supporting patients and providers through the complex journey of specialty medication access. In this position, you’ll assist with prior authorizations, reimbursement processes, and financial assistance coordination. You'll serve as a key point of contact for healthcare providers and patients, ensuring timely communication, accurate documentation, and compassionate service.
Responsibilities
- Enter all communication and documentation in the Biologics MIS system.
- Utilize all available resources to secure copay assistance funding for patients in need of financial support, and communicate available resources to providers and patients.
- Communicate with providers regarding patient updates and document all interactions in the Biologics MIS.
- Use clinical notes provided by providers to initiate prior authorizations via online portals, phone, or fax.
- Follow-up on applications for assistance with third-party entities until a determination is made (copay or free goods support).
- Manage inbound calls on manufacturer customer service lines from patients, clients, physicians, practitioners, and clinics regarding services, financial support programs, and applications.
- Coincide with the benefits investigation team to initiate the pharmacy dispensing workflow once assistance outcomes are determined.
- Triage prescriptions to preferred pharmacies or hub providers when Biologics is unable to serve the patient, and ensure receipt by the pharmacy or hub.
- Identify and report adverse events (AEs) and product complaints (PCs) to clinicians.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
- Typically requires 3+ years of related experience.
- At least 3+ years of experience in insurance verification or benefits investigation preferred.
- Affiliate degree or higher preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
- Highly motivated, committed to excellence, and demonstrates a positive attitude.
- Conscientious, detail-oriented, flexible, and adaptable.
Skills
- At least 3+ years of experience in insurance verification or benefits investigation preferred.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) experience preferred but not required.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay
$17.99 - $29.98
Schedule
- Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of Cary, North Carolina.
- Position is Hybrid, 2 days on site at the Cary location
- Standard work hours are 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.
- This position requires one Saturday per month 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET.
