About the Role

Contra Costa County Health is offering excellent employment opportunities for full-time Health Services Information Technology Project Manager positions assigned primarily to the Health Services Information Technology Unit located in Martinez, CA or Concord, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing project delivery from discovery to closure
  • Ensuring project governance is established and that communication occurs effectively to all levels of the organization
  • Providing cadenced project status updates
  • Creating and using standard project artifacts (Charter, RAID, etc.)
  • Ensuring that all resources assigned to the project are meeting timelines, escalating when appropriate
  • Adhering to documented project phase gates
  • Supporting organization use of Agile/associated work tracking platforms

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Health Care Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a closely related field.

Experience: Five (5) years of full-time or its equivalent experience as a project manager or health systems analyst leading and managing projects, including (2) two years in a health care information systems environment, working with end users to extract, document and optimize data flow, implement systems, and support applications and databases.

Substitution for Education: One (1) additional year of qualifying experience noted above may be substituted for the required academic major.

Certification: Possession of a current PMP (Project Management Professional) certification issued by Project Management Institute.

Selection Process

Application Filing and Evaluation: All applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.

Virtual Oral Assessment: Candidates that meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online, on-demand interview. The interview will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job and will be rated by subject matter experts. These competencies may include but are not limited to: Action & Results Focused, Self-Management, Informing, Project Management, and Oral Communication. Candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies, as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. (Weighted 100%).

Tentative Exam Dates: Remote Exam/Evaluation: Week of September 11, 2026

The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
