Supervisory Responsibilities
- Hiring, training, managing, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating all Nurses and Medication Assistants.
- Determines adequate staffing levels and prepares staffing schedules using approved tools.
- Replaces absent Team Members as required per resident care and facility needs.
- Ensures proper training and certification of all Nurses and Medication Assistants as required by Merrill Gardens and state and local guidelines.
- Mentors Team Members using electronic care system.
- Supervises Nurses and Medication Assistants to evaluate performance on an ongoing basis to ensure residents receive appropriate care.
- Provides staff in-service training, as indicated by the facility and resident needs, to ensure Team Members have received training necessary to accomplish their assignments and provide accurate resident care.
Administration
- Adheres to budgetary guidelines established by Merrill Gardens.
- Provides General Manager with weekly status reports on all AL residents.
- Maintains all resident records and department documentation.
- Audits AL services for regulatory compliance.
- Reviews and verifies all Nurses and Medication Assistants are using the time clock appropriately and taking breaks as indicated by policy and regulations.
- Responds quickly to all emergency situations, including but not limited to: assisting in fire control and resident evacuation procedures during fire/disaster, ensuring care personnel know actions to be taken during fire/disaster, performing CPR as necessary.
- Maintains continuing education requirements when necessary for state licensing/registration.
- Provides additional management reports as required.
- Ensures the AL work area, which may include offices, medication rooms, etc., are clean and orderly.
Other Duties
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Current RN licensure, as specified by state agency, preferred. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
- Experience: 3-years related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in Assisted Living, geriatric nursing, or gerontology and dementia care. Experience in medication administration and hands-on personal care preferred. Demonstrated ability in budgeting and cost control.
