Position Responsibilities
- Adheres to and conveys the philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for Residents.
- Identifies ongoing needs and services for Residents through assessment and service planning utilizing the nursing process.
- Carefully coordinates ancillary health care services for Residents in cooperation with the Executive Director.
- Adheres to all established policies and procedures.
- Responds to Resident or staff concerns and refers them to the Executive Director when appropriate.
- Manages and performs TB testing/screening for Residents and staff per state regulations.
- Maintains quality of work performance of Care Partners, Medication Staff, and Licensed Nurses and reports to the Executive Director.
- Ensures that staff know and follow infection control procedures.
- Directs the infection control measures for the community.
- Participates in service plan conferences; maintains medication and treatment records for each Resident.
- Works closely with staff and designated agent(s) to identify Resident problems/concerns/issues; follows up as needed and communicates same appropriately.
- Has 24/7 overall responsibility for the clinical operations. Is on call according to pre-established schedule.
- Oversees and/or completes monthly nursing schedule for nursing staff.
- Participates in the Manager on Duty program as directed by the Executive Director.
- Coordinates/provides treatments within the scope of the nursing license and state regulations.
- Observes all work, safety, and administrative rules.
- Acts as Resident advocate in medical-social situations involving Resident and/or designated agents, physicians, other agents, or agencies.
- Coordinates administration of medications and treatments; observes results and documents same.
- Examines and gives first aid to Residents and staff, within scope of practice.
- Addresses physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs of Residents.
- Completes required forms to ensure continuity of care.
- Notifies physician and/or designated agent(s) of Resident change in condition.
- Participates in the company quality assurance program.
Resident Services
- Conducts initial nursing assessment(s)/evaluations to determine the appropriate level of care.
- Conducts reassessments per state/company requirements: this includes significant change of condition, and prior to readmission to the community.
- Works closely with the Executive Director to counsel the Resident and designated agent(s) meeting personal and related healthcare needs.
- Evaluates personal services rendered to Residents and coaches staff on expectations.
- Evaluates health emergencies and determines emergency medical measures taken regarding Resident care.
- Acts as Resident advocate in medical-social situations involving Resident and/or designated agents, physicians, other agents, or agencies.
- Coordinates administration of medications and treatments; observes results and documents same.

Administrative
- Reads staff communications and maintains familiarity with other Resident records as required.
- Affirms accurate transcription of physician orders into treatment/medication records.
- Aids as directed with move-in and orientation of new Residents and designated agent(s).
- Reviews resident service records, treatment, and medication books to assure the quality of care and documentation in the medical record is within nursing standards.
- Verifies physician orders, move-in/move-out information, and initiates appropriate action/follow-up.
- Supervises ordering of medications from pharmacy.
- Coordinates therapeutic diet orders with staff as required.
- Affirms proper records are maintained including the use of EHR systems for care documentation, medication management, and quality initiatives.
Staff Development
- Provides, plans, schedules, and monitors staff training programs and in-services for the clinical staff including statutory or regulatory required training.
- Attends/Completes all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
- Trains, documents, and supervises Care Partners under the Nurse Delegation Act as appropriate.
- Trains and supervision of staff to perform medication assistance services within best practices.
Employment Requirements
- Willingness to adhere to assisted living principles in provided services.
- Ability to relate to the public, Residents, families, staff, and other professionals appropriately.
- Ability to communicate well, verbally and in writing.
- CPR/First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and 30 pounds regularly.
- Maintains appropriate and required nursing license in the state where the community is located.
- Immediately report to the Executive Director any disruption to nursing license status.
- Provide a supervisor of all states you hold an active nursing license/compact license.
Education And Licensure
- Graduate of accredited nursing school.
- Maintains current RN/LPN/LVN license in good standing in the state the community is located.
