Responsibilities
- Health & Medical Preparedness
- Ensure daily operation of the Offshore Health Clinic in accordance with laws and regulations, including maintaining stock and control of medicines and medical equipment, as well as equipment related to emergency hospital and handling of infectious diseases and epidemics.
- Provide professional health assistance and perform medical examinations and treatment of patients in collaboration with the duty doctor.
- Conduct risk-based health examinations according to the established program and document all test results in the employee’s medical record.
- Perform medical examinations to certify SAR members and ensure documentation in accordance with procedures.
- Conduct weekly training for the first-aid team and lead the team during medical emergencies.
- Infection Control, Drinking Water Quality, Hygiene and Food Handling
- Advise and implement necessary control measures in the event of outbreaks of infectious diseases or epidemics, in collaboration with the responsible physician.
- Ensure all medical-technical equipment is maintained and calibrated according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Conduct regular testing of drinking water (sampling) to verify water quality; maintain logs and document results; register deviations in Synergi; report deviations to OIM and responsible physician and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Provide expertise and guidance on general hygiene matters and in connection with food handling; implement and lead regular hygiene rounds according to plan.
- Safety & Working Environment
- Protect workers from exposure to hazardous working environment factors, including identification of health risk factors (physical, psychological, chemical, biological and ergonomic).
- Participate in work permit and Safe Job Analysis meetings to advise on mitigation measures according to the hierarchy of controls.
- Follow up on the execution of field tasks through job observations and inspections.
- Provide information to offshore personnel based on risk assessment and mapping of the working environment.
- Advise and guide on chemical handling; upon detection of signs and symptoms of possible work-related illness or injury, conduct initial interviews and examinations; notify and report results to the Occupational Health Service and inform the responsible physician.
- Update exposure registers with required details if personnel are exposed to hazardous substances and chemicals; communicate deviations in safety and working environment matters to relevant professionals onshore; convey advice and proposed mitigation measures to the offshore leadership team.
- Participate in scheduled meetings with onshore professionals.
Qualifications
- Publicly approved nurse, preferably with specialist education in anaesthesia, emergency medicine or intensive care nursing.
- Experience from offshore activities in the petroleum industry (not from the maritime sector).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant clinical experience, preferably after specialist education; other experience in emergency medicine or prehospital services will also be considered.
- Experience with risk assessments and measurements related to the working environment (noise, vibration, chemical, biological and psychosocial exposure).
- Knowledge of working environment legislation, HSE regulations and standards, especially NORSOK S-002, C-001 and C-002.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluent in both written and spoken Norwegian and English.
