About the role
L-H Battery Company, located in Jeffersonville, Ohio, is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to support the development and maintenance of a strong Health and Safety culture.
Responsibilities
- Support assigned department to be main contact for Health and Safety (HS) to assist departments in achieving HS goals and objectives
- Absorb and manage the ISO 45001 certification process and lead the HS Compliance Team to drive continuous improvement in HS programs
- Evaluate hazard identification and mitigation for plant operations and administrative offices
- Conduct daily line walks to ensure HS practices are being observed and to note any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any HS related policies/regulations
- Lead cross-functional teams to drive improvements
- Perform and document complex safety compliance activity to include: critical communication cross verifications and implementation of strategic safety projects and initiatives
- Detail presentation and reporting of safety activities and results including complex data analysis and trending
- Participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions
- Proactively cycle P-D-C-A safety compliance programs to reduce injuries and hazards and ensure continuous improvement of safety characteristics of assigned areas
- Conduct new equipment reviews, mechanical risk assessments and ergonomic risk assessments
- Participate in emergency response drills and critiques
- Develop/update site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
- Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards
Requirements
- Detailed understanding of major health and safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI)
- Two to four years of safety experience
- Professional certification (ASP/CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or related field
- MBA or MS preferred
