Health & Safety Department Manager

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local workplace safety regulations
• Update procedures and policies for new regulations, guidelines, or corporate policies
• Provide management team with guidance on health and safety regulations in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines and regulation
• Recommend ways to improve health and safety in the workplace
• Respond to on-site emergencies and incidents
• Maintain a daily presence to ensure all activity meets safety compliance
• Verify that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices
• Document reports of incidents and record statistical information

Position Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of occupational safety and health experience in manufacturing operations
• Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety Management, Environmental Engineering, Safety, Risk Management or a related Technical Field
• Knowledgeable of federal, state (Louisiana) and local regulations as well as relevant consensus standards
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Knowledge of Behavioral Safety Auditing techniques
• Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis education or experience
• Ability to coach and train employees
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (to include but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict and reach agreement with others
• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and walk throughout the workday
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations
