About the role

MWH is currently seeking a qualified Health & Safety Specialist to oversee project safety protocols and procedures. This position will be based out of Gresham, Oregon.

Essential Functions

  • Establishes and promotes a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Oversees the implementation and maintenance of environmental health and safety management systems.
  • Emphasizes accountability around safety policies and decisions.
  • Aids in the development and implementation of project, regional, and corporate safety strategy companywide.
  • Works closely with project leadership to create a safe working environment.
  • Instrumental in training the company’s employees in safety-related issues and techniques.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma/GED or two-year degree in occupational safety, environmental safety and health, health management, or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years construction experience and 3 years of safety experience on a construction site.
  • The ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • A knowledge of OSHA.
