Health Promotion Coordinator – Connection & Belonging
About the role
You’ll be joining the Hokie Wellness team; a department centered on providing holistic well-being resources to the Virginia Tech community by focusing on a variety of health and well-being topics. You’ll be reporting to the Assistant Director of Mental Health Initiatives, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
Responsibilities
- Advancing student health and well-being through the implementation, facilitation, and supervision of evidence-informed, theory-driven initiatives focused on connection and belonging
- Overseeing the daily operations of The Connection Project (TCP) as well as other programs and initiatives that enhance student connection and well-being
- Providing direct supervision to student facilitators and staff who support these initiatives
- Growing and taking advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human development, counseling, psychology, social work, public health, or a related field
- Experience with group facilitation/management skills and facilitating small groups of college students on mental health/connection topics
- Experience supervising and mentoring student staff with strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience working collaboratively with colleagues both departmentally and across campus to enhance programs supporting student connection and well-being
- Experience facilitating and promoting programs that foster belonging, connection, and well-being
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in human development, counseling, psychology, social work, public health, or a related field
- Prior experience collecting and working with both quantitative and qualitative data/research methods
- Professional writing skills
