About the role
Develops and implements radiological control programs to meet pre-determined goals and objectives. Assignments are generally self-initiated.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance to other health physics analysts and to plant operative management.
- Serve as the lead person or technical expert on medium to large projects.
- Perform major investigations, inspections, and evaluations.
- Make recommendations and presentations to regulatory, industry, and/or management personnel.
- Serve as the point-of-contact for regulatory agencies.
- Exercise technical direction within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.
- Work on complex problems where analyses of data or situations require an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
- Work independently and may lead task groups on major projects.
- Develop broad guidelines for radiological control programs such as those in licenses and permits for plant activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering, OR in lieu of a degree, eight (8) years of experience in radiation safety, OR a Master’s or Ph.D. in Science or Engineering.
- With a B.S. degree, nine (9) years of experience in radiation safety is required to demonstrate ability to apply technical knowledge to plant situations and requirements; without a B.S. degree, seventeen (17) years of experience in radiation safety is required.
- With an M.S. degree, six (6) years of experience in radiation safety is required.
- With a Ph.D. degree, three (3) years of experience in radiation safety is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Selected applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment check and drug screening.
- Position may require the ability to obtain and maintain federal eligibility requirements for access to classified/sensitive information or matter, involving an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test, previous employment, and reference verifications.

Pay
The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) is $86,450 to $136,000 per year. The base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. The total compensation package may also include an annual cash incentive in addition to medical, retirement, and other benefits.
