Health & PE Teacher (Part Time)

Instructors at Cristo Rey are primarily responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a secondary Catholic learning environment, aligned with the Cristo Rey Curriculum. Faculty model principles that help students become individuals of faith, purpose, and service, working under the supervision of the principal.

Salary Range: $33,000 - $48,000

Responsibilities

• Uphold the Cristo Rey mission, vision, and values.
• Embrace school-wide systems and ensure high standards of behavior.
• Collaborate with school leadership, providing input and leadership for school programs.
• Actively participate in professional development sessions.
• Communicate professionally with peers, supervisors, parents, and students.
• Commit to a longer school day and calendar year.
• Adhere to professional guidelines, including professional dress as outlined in the staff handbook.
• Participate in school-wide culture, academic, and faith formation events (e.g., admissions events, parent/teacher conferences, retreats), which may occur on evenings and weekends.
• Supervise students at all school masses and assemblies.
• Provide substitute classroom coverage as needed.
• Support and value the Corporate Work Study Program as a learning and growth opportunity for students.
• Know, teach, and follow school-wide routines and procedures (CRRHS non-negotiables).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Instructional Duties

• Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Develop rigorous, culturally relevant lessons for predominantly first-generation, low-income students.
• Use Cristo Rey Network and College Board standards, assessments, and initiatives to maintain a high-rigor, on-grade-level curriculum.
• Fully participate in instructional coaching and evaluation.
• Honor CRR grading philosophy, maintain accurate gradebooks, and communicate with families regarding student academics and behavior.
• Tutor students during Office Hours.
• Collaborate with colleagues during planning periods to advance student academics.
• Attend faculty, department, and professional development meetings as directed.
• Encourage and monitor individual student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of students' progress, including grades, attendance, and behavior.
• Update all necessary records as required by laws, network policies, and school regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (required); Master’s Degree (preferred).
• Commonwealth of Virginia Teacher’s Certification (strongly preferred), or a Bachelor’s Degree in the content area and must complete state certification within the first two years of employment.
