Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with physicians and hospital staff to assure completion of records that meet all regulatory and facility requirements.
- Reviews and responds to the daily fatal error reports for HIM related issues.
- Answers inquiries from internal and external contacts regarding information recorded in patient’s medical records, within all departmental policies and guidelines.
- Responds appropriately to any potential HIM issues.
- Reports/records HIPAA incidents in a timely manner & investigates to determine if breach of confidentiality occurred.
- Performs timely audits on medical charts to ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
- Prepares/audits the medical records post discharge to assure all required documentation is present.
- Accurately records and monitors departmental deficiency rate and maintains rate below 30%.
Requirements
- Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in health information management required, prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Licenses: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required. Valid driver's license preferred.
