Health Equity Coordinator

About the Role

The Public Health Department promotes the health of our entire community through varied programs, including control of communicable diseases, coordination of health emergency responses, individual case management, primary prevention of disease, and wellness promotion. The Health Equity Coordinator is a relatively new position that will collaborate with all Public Health programs and staff to analyze sources of health inequities and develop programs, policies, and procedures to address them. Nevada County seeks a passionate, empathetic, creative, and highly organized individual to support this initiative. Experience in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion or Health Equity is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Promote health equity through development of culturally informed policies, programs, and services that address the social determinants of health.
• Function as an equity subject matter expert to internal stakeholders (department and organization staff) and external community partners.
• Collect, evaluate, and analyze data to inform health equity-related decision-making processes and maximize resources across the Department.
• Train and build health equity and diversity and inclusion knowledge among Department staff.
• Draft contracts, pursue funding opportunities, and prepare grant reports for funders.
