Position Summary
Performs routine clerical and typing functions, bookkeeping duties, miscellaneous filing, operates a personal computer and provides assistance to other areas of the office when needed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Communicates in person and by telephone with other departments and the public to expedite information, answers questions; assists at the counter.
- Schedules and makes appointments for the public; and routes visitors.
- Handles checks/cash and ensures proper processing and bookkeeping of these monies
- Reviews invoices for accuracy and correctness and processes them along with related material.
- Receives all materials and supplies verifying to their correctness and quality. If necessary, makes all necessary corrections and adjustments.
- Operates office equipment, such as typewriter, computer, copier and adding machine. This may also include simple medical office equipment, such as a digital weight scale.
- Performs clerical functions (processes data entry) and is responsible for typing of correspondence (including letters, memos and proposed policies).
- Maintains permanent record files and is responsible for their security and maintenance.
- May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time with on-the-job training.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient computer skills with keyboard speed of 35 wpm.
- Must be able to work effectively with the public.
- Some knowledge of business English, spelling and the ability to make arithmetic computations and tabulations accurately and at a reasonable speed.
