About the role
This is a great opportunity to join Providence Community Health Centers (PCHC) as a Health Center Assistant (Medical Assistant).
Responsibilities
- Aid doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers in patient care, including taking vital signs, operating an EKG machine, performing point-of-care tests, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Answer incoming phone calls, schedule appointments, verify patient identities, manage provider schedules, collect payments, and document patient-related procedures/tests in medical records.
- Prepare work areas, insert patient-related materials, maintain logs/records, and provide general clerical support as needed.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated patient-centered care, communicate effectively within the role, and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Provide interpretation support for clinical staff and assist with immigration documentation as required.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with completion of a medical assistant program and 180-hour internship requirement.
- A basic life support/CPR certification.
- The ability to work with patients across various age groups and cultural backgrounds.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with the Physician Computer Network.
