About the role
This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and person-centered supports to residents with complex physical, intellectual, medical, and behavioral needs.
- Complete Nursing Assistant assignments while maintaining optimal gross/fine motor skills.
- Ensure activities of daily living (mealtime, dressing, bathing, grooming, etc.) while supporting the highest level of practicable independence.
- Ensure all health and safety needs are met for assigned residents per regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) in all aspects of communication.
- Work a schedule that includes weekends, holidays, mandatory reporting during inclement weather, due to the facility providing services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Work shifts including 8-hour Day, Evening, and Night; 12-Hour Day and Night schedules all part-time up to 29 hours per week.
- Receive shift premiums based on the type of shift worked.
- Be CPR and Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certified upon employment.
- Must report or stay over during adverse weather events as required.
Requirements
- Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant and listed in good standings with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
- Knowledgeable and skilled in nursing care techniques.
- Able to communicate observations and recommendations effectively and accurately in written and verbal form.
- Able to communicate in a respectful manner to residents, family/guardians, co-workers, and others.
- Able to work independently and as a member of a team while maintaining a professional, pleasant demeanor in work relationships.
- Able to learn behavior management interventions and support counseling relationships.
Qualifications
- Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
- High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
- CPR and Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification.

Pay
The hourly rate of pay is $17.00 - $19.00, based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application.
