About the role

Employees provide basic medical care and train and assist individuals in activities of daily living; assist in performing complex nursing care; and provide safe and secure environments. Employees may provide individuals training for home living, social communications, leisure, vocations, community living, and functional academics. Employees implement and stay current in the assigned individuals’ comprehensive/person-centered treatment plans. Work involves providing ongoing observation, interaction, and feedback to individuals and reporting concerns to the appropriate professional program staff. Work also involves working with the interdisciplinary/treatment team and providing input on each individual’s care and condition. Work involves ongoing contact with individuals who may be diagnosed with a wide spectrum of psychiatric and/or developmental conditions that may include unpredictable behaviors, maladaptive, and potentially dangerous behaviors. Work may include providing custodial supervision to inmates. Work may involve other closely related duties including the administration of medications in prison facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic medical care and train and assist individuals in activities of daily living.
  • Aid in performing complex nursing care.
  • Implement and stay current in the assigned individuals’ comprehensive/person-centered treatment plans.
  • Provide ongoing observation, interaction, and feedback to individuals and report concerns to the appropriate professional program staff.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary/treatment team and provide input on each individual’s care and condition.
  • Engage in ongoing contact with individuals who may have unpredictable behaviors, maladaptive, and potentially dangerous behaviors.
  • Supervise custodial tasks and administer medications in prison facilities as necessary.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of a variety of psychiatric, intellectual disabilities, medical and/or other related conditions.
  • Knowledge of teaching strategies and positive behavior support for people with severe cognitive deficits.
  • Ability to follow the treatment plans and/or clinical orders.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals, staff, and others.
  • Ability to learn behavior management and supportive counseling techniques.

Qualifications

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mandated to report or stay over during adverse weather events or other emergencies.
  • Must be eligible for the Sign-on Bonus contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Apprival.

Skills

Benefits

  • Shift Premiums for 8-hour shifts: 10% for Saturdays and Sundays, 20% for weekdays, and 30% for evenings and nights.
  • Shift Premiums for 12-hour shifts: No premiums for 7:00 am-7:30 pm days, 20% for weekdays, and 30% for weekends.
  • Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus contingent on budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $31,200 - $46,348.

Schedule

  • 8-hour shifts with premium pay for Saturdays and Sundays (10%), weekdays (20%), and evenings and nights (30%).
  • 12-hour shifts with premium pay for 7:00 am-7:30 pm days (no premiums), weekdays (20%), and weekends (30%).
