Health Care Assistant Weekend - 5NE Medical Unit - FT - 3rd Shift

About the role

Under the direction of the physicians and clinical staff, the Health Care Assistant supports the assigned unit by providing technical patient care services and support related to patients on the nursing unit. Additionally, they assist staff, physicians, visitors, and ancillary departments with routine patient care activities and clerical support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care Activities:
  • Vital signs
  • Activities of daily living
  • Transport and transfer of patients, including discharge
• Clerical Support:
  • Directing incoming calls and responding to patient calls
  • Entering patient charges in the computer system
  • Maintaining patient charts, unit files, and secretarial supply levels
  • Maintaining a safe and orderly environment

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, with completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant and/or Huntsville Hospital Health Care Assistant course preferred.
• Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations: BCLS is required by the conclusion of orientation.
• Experience: Requires previous patient care and/or two years clerical experience with a successful work history. Comparable combinations of education and experience in both clerical positions as well as patient care aide positions will be considered.

Qualifications

• Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations: BCLS required by the conclusion of orientation

Skills

Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
