About the Role
The teacher is responsible for instructional planning, implementation, and development of the curriculum while fostering an inclusive learning environment to promote student engagement and success. The teacher supervises students, implements New Jersey Student Learning Standards, and adapts curriculum to individual needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement curriculum aligned with New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
- Plan and deliver effective lessons using diverse teaching methods.
- Provide individualized support to meet diverse student needs.
- Set clear objectives, assess understanding, and monitor academic progress.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents.
- Collaborate with colleagues to assess and address learning challenges.
- Actively participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings, committees, and other activities.
- Establish and maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment.
- Create age-appropriate activities and presentations, catering to varying ability levels.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies.
- Engage in continuous professional development activities.
- Stay abreast of current developments, new trends, and teaching methodologies.
- Contribute to curriculum development and participate in in-service education.
- Devise thought-provoking assignments and tests encouraging critical thinking.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Implement a program of study recognizing and meeting individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignments.
- Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility with the appropriate teaching endorsement (1605 - Health and Physical Education Instructional Certificate).
- Successful completion of required criminal history review background check and sexual misconduct/child abuse disclosure process.
- Proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status.
