About the role
Join Business Health Solutions (BHS) in delivering Occupational Safety & Health Services at Carrier Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position is for an Occupational Safety & Health Coordinator working Monday - Friday, 4:30 pm to 12:30 am at the Carrier facility on the north side of Charlotte.
Responsibilities
- Site Specific Project Work: Engage in 70% safety and 30% health-related activities, supporting the Environmental, Health & Safety Initiatives of the site.
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment: Conduct inspections of the workplace, equipment, and practices to identify risks and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Support Carrier's workplace policies, procedures, and practices. Ensure adherence to standards set by local, state, and federal regulations.
- Incident Investigation: Analyze workplace accidents and illnesses to identify root causes and prevent further incidents. Collaborate with contracting agencies to comply with Carrier policies and procedures.
- Training & Education: Deliver awareness, education, and support to team members to promote safe work practices and the appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
- Program Implementation & Evaluation: Assist in implementing and reinforcing Carrier policies and procedures. Participate in evaluating employees and contractors to ensure compliance with site-specific work practices.
- Medical Support of Site on Second Shift:
- Oversee first aid for any injury or illness presented on site during shift.
- Work with contracting agencies to transfer contractor cases to the appropriate employer.
- Contact appropriate resources for required care.
- Oversee protocols related to drug and alcohol testing as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or Nursing or equivalent experience.
- First Aid & BLS Certification (Required).
- OSHA 10 or 30 hour course.
- 2-5 years experience in Occupational Safety and/or Health.
Skills
- Knowledge of environmental health and safety, ergonomics, and OSHA.
- Working knowledge of laws, standards, and safety regulations in occupational safety & health.
- Familiarity with epidemiology, safety, industrial hygiene, wellness, and behavioral change theory.
- Emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and motivation.
