About the Role

The MGH Institute of Health Professions is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Health Administration Program. This role involves participating in CAHME accreditation, teaching, assessment strategies, curriculum support, academic advising, and active engagement in professional, service, and scholarly activities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, manage, teach, and evaluate didactic or clinical courses within the designated content area or as negotiated.
  • Provide general academic advising to students.
  • Participate in professional and service activities, including departmental and institutional governance through committee work.
  • Engage in scholarship aligned with the IHP Scholarship Model, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
  • Teaching:
    • Teach within or across programs as appropriate to expertise and program needs.
    • Design and deliver instruction using evidence-based pedagogical practices, including syllabi, course materials, and assessments aligned with program competencies and accreditation standards.
    • Evaluate student achievement of program competencies and learning outcomes.
    • Participate in the development, evaluation, and revision of the Health Administration Program curriculum plan.
    • Facilitate active learning environments (e.g., case-based, interprofessional, and clinical simulation) promoting critical thinking and clinical reasoning.
    • Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback; mentor students’ academic and professional development.
  • Service:
    • Contribute to departmental and institutional governance through active participation on committees supporting program quality and continuous improvement.
    • Provide comprehensive student advising and mentorship to foster student success and professional readiness.
    • Engage in professional service to the field through leadership or participation in professional organizations.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of a systematic evaluation plan for the program.
  • Scholarship:
    • Develop and sustain a program of scholarship advancing health professions education, clinical practice, or translational research.
    • Disseminate scholarly work through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and other products commensurate with the level of appointment.

Specific responsibilities are subject to change based on program needs and budgetary resources. Responsibilities and percentage of FTE will be reviewed and negotiated annually.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Health Services Administration, Healthcare Economics, Healthcare Leadership, or a related health discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
  • 3-5 years of healthcare executive experience.
  • 5-7 years of academic program experience, including experience as an educator and previous online teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to continued learning and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), CAHME, and AUPHA affiliation preferred.
  • Preferences given to candidates with a teaching focus in one or more of the following areas:
    • Healthcare Management
    • Healthcare Policy
    • Human Resources in Healthcare
    • Legal and Ethical Considerations in Healthcare
    • Operations Management
    • Strategic Management in Healthcare
    • Leadership
  • Demonstrated success in healthcare organization leadership positions and academic healthcare experience.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid/remote schedule.
  • Flexible schedule with availability for occasional evening teaching assignments and attendance at evening/weekend IHP/School events.
  • Faculty member assumes all responsibilities as an active and contributing member of the school.

Pay

The expected base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $145,000, based on faculty rank (Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor), qualifications, and discipline. Final compensation will be determined by academic and clinical experience, teaching responsibilities, education, licensure, specialty, training, market, and internal equity. This range represents base salary only; details about the full compensation and benefits package will be shared during the recruitment process.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 scheduled weekly hours.
  • Hybrid work location at 100 First Avenue.
