Job Summary
Under the direction of the Athletic Director, coach, plan, organize, recruit for, and coordinate the Bushnell University Wrestling Program. Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct all aspects of the wrestling program: including recruiting, scholarship distribution, spiritual formation, budgeting, scheduling, rules compliance, practice and game preparation, scheduling of contests, and supervision of assistant coaches
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and coach wrestling within the academic, spiritual formation and athletic philosophies of Bushnell University, local, and national conferences; verify eligibility of student athletes according to established regulations and procedures
- Provide a safe environment for training and competition for student-athletes and coaches
- Plan and organize team travel including transportation, lodging, and meals for away competitions
- Maintain and implement a training program for on and off season
- Organize and run practice sessions
- Hire, evaluate and supervise assistant coaching staff
- Campaign for fundraising activities for the program (examples could include summer camp or raffle ticket sales)
- Assist in design and structure of wrestling training facility
- Aid in wrestling room infrastructure, management (scheduling) and cleaning
- Attend all Athletic Director and/or Vice President for Student Development assigned events and functions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Vice President for Student Development
Special Requirements
- Knowledge of/ability to:
- Understand and work toward the goals of Bushnell University and NAIA Athletics
- Know collegiate policies, procedures and trends related to Intercollegiate Athletics
- NAIA and Cascade Collegiate Conference philosophy, rules, regulations, regarding eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, recruiting, sports playing seasons, etc.
- Proper coaching and motivation techniques
- Body mechanics principles, flexibility and strength training
- High pedagogy of wrestling
- Understanding of wrestling room safety and facility coordination
- Goals and objectives of assigned activity
- Risk management and safety regulations; applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Operation of computer and applicable software
Experience and Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- National License Certification in related field and extensive participation in the sport of wrestling preferred
- Five years of consecutive coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred (head high school and/or club accepted)

- The position is subject to evening, weekend, and variable working hours including holidays.
- The position requires driving a vehicle.
- The position may require lifting up to 50 lbs., as well as bending, stooping, and kneeling.
