About the role
The Head Women’s Golf Coach oversees all aspects of managing a winning NCAA DIII women’s golf program. Responsibilities include developing competitive teams, maximizing student-athletes' talents, recruiting and retaining student athletes, and managing the operational budget.
Responsibilities
- Develop competitive teams in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) and nationally within NCAA DIII.
- Maximize student-athletes’ talents in competition while upholding the institution’s high academic standards.
- Recruit qualified applicants for assistant coaching positions, assign job duties, evaluate staff job performance, and mentor staff members.
- Manage the operational budget while demonstrating fiscal responsibility and oversee the purchase of inventory, uniforms, equipment, facilities maintenance/upgrade, and travel.
- Collaborate with the College and athletic units, including admissions, financial aid, medical services, strength coach, academic support, judicial affairs, compliance, and development.
- Work within the framework of the athletics Championship Culture.
- Ensure compliance with all rules of Rhodes College Athletics, Rhodes College, NCAA Division III, and the Southern Athletic Association.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, required in higher education, sports administration, student personnel, business administration, or related field.
- Three years of high school or college level coaching experience in golf is required.
- A valid driver's license, a good driving record, and insurability by the College's insurance carrier.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain a strong working relationship with students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and other college personnel.
- The ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.
- A thorough knowledge of sport, a sophisticated understanding of coaching strategies, and an ability to enhance student-athlete development.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to manage team dynamics as well as professionally handle stressful situations.
- Score a 75 on the annual NCAA Rules Test.
Physical Requirements
- Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Inside sedentary work and work on different fields and on other fitness environments while coaching and training situations with student-athletes.
- Lifting required (i.e., set-up of scorers’ table, etc.), some manual labor is expected.
- Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather, with travel is necessary.
