JOB SUMMARY
The Head Teacher is responsible for the care, supervision, day-to-day operations, and safety of center/classroom children. They develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum encouraging self-esteem and independence for the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of each child while ensuring health, safety, and nutritional education are integrated into the curriculum.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s OR Associate’s degree in ECE or related field with required 12 OEC/ECE credits (Intro to ECE, Child Development, Health, Safety& Nutrition in ECE and Child, Family & Community), or willing to achieve within 2 years of hire to meet licensing requirements.
- Current center-based Child Development Associate credential (CDA) with 12 ECE credits, and enrolled in a program that will lead to an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field, this must include the required OEC courses (see above); to be completed within two years of the time of hire.
- Reliable, insured transportation.
- A Staff Statement of Good Health signed by a physician, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner completed within twelve (12) months before the date of employment, and every Thirty-six (36) months for current staff.
- CT Childcare Pediatric First-Aid, CPR, AED and medication administration certification.
- Care 4 Kids Health and Safety Training within 90 days of hire.
- CT Head Teacher License from the Department of Public Health.
- Able to lift and/or carry up to 50lbs.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Available to work 35-37 hours/week, 52 weeks/year.
- Available to work center operational hours from 7:00AM – 5:00PM on a rotational basis.
- Continuing professional development per funding source requirements.
- Strong computer skills and effective communication with children, parents, staff, and volunteers.
