Head Start / VPK PreK Provider (Lead Teacher)

Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Start / VPK Lead Teacher to lead our Pre-Kindergarten classroom at Horace O'Bryant School. The ideal candidate will implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that support cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of 3, 4, and 5-year-old children. You will work collaboratively with families, support staff, and district leadership to ensure a high-quality educational experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports all learners
- Promote school readiness across all developmental domains (academic, social, emotional, physical)
- Supervise children at all times in the classroom, playground, and school settings
- Absorb and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and curriculum aligned with Head Start and Florida VPK standards
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation and records
- Collaborate with families, support staff, and administrators to support student success
- Prepare instructional materials and maintain an organized classroom environment
- Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, district policies, and safety regulations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred or required depending on level)
- Meet Florida Head Start / VPK lead instructor credential requirements (e.g., emergent literacy training/FL Standards training as required)
- Ability to pass background screening and health requirements for employment
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred (35 years old)
- Strong classroom management, communication, and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Prior classroom experience in early childhood
