About the role

We have an opportunity for a Lead Teacher at our Head Start program. The ideal candidate enjoys working with 3 to 5-year-old children, making a difference in their lives, and seeing them learn and reach their goals.

Responsibilities

• Implement the Creative Curriculum and plan developmentally appropriate individual activities in a safe, healthy learning environment.
• Work within the context of the family, its culture, and the community.
• Ongoing supervision of the classroom Teacher Assistant and other staff as assigned.
• Promote and provide opportunities for staff to embody the agency mission.
• Support family efforts to access community resources.
• Provide transition information and maintain confidentiality.
• Ensure reliable attendance and demonstrate organizational skills.
• Document weekly progress reports and maintain appropriate programmatic documentation in each child-family file.
• Participate in scheduled center staff meetings and conduct family visits.
• Maintain equipment and supplies used in the classroom and on the playground during group sessions.
• Develop and implement development and implementation study themes, lesson plans based on individual children’s developmental level, interests, and learning goals.
• Observe and document child’s progress and maintain appropriate records.
• Provide program information to community organizations.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships and recruit, train, and utilize volunteers.
• Access community resources to extend learning opportunities with field trips and visitors.
• Identify own professional growth needs and develop a plan to achieve them.
• Stay current in knowledge of child development by participating in education training opportunities.
