Head Start Teacher

About the Role

This position is responsible for providing instructional experiences for preschool children to support their social, emotional, physical, and educational development. The Head Start Teacher will collaborate with the Teacher Assistant to develop appropriate goals and objectives, ensuring a well-structured and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement daily activities that support the progress of each child using the designated curriculum.
• Ensure the classroom arrangement meets the developmental needs of all children.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary indoor and outdoor environment.
• Implement effective classroom management strategies.
• Plan transitions and outdoor learning activities.
• Facilitate smooth transitions for children moving from Early Head Start or other settings into Head Start, and from Head Start into kindergarten or other settings.
• Collaborate with families, special education teams, and management to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Actively communicate with families to ensure each child’s success, sharing screening and assessment results.
• Confer with families and refer child or family concerns to appropriate partners and staff.
• Obtain all necessary permissions and documentation for each child.
• Maintain individual child portfolios and track development toward learning outcomes/standards.
• Utilize agency software to input data accurately and generate reports for tracking and follow-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement preferred.
• Other bachelor’s degree concentrations may be considered with relevant early childhood experience.

Full-time, part-year, non-exempt position.
