About the role
The Head Start Teacher (Lead Teacher) supports early childhood education programs to create positive outcomes for children and families.
Responsibilities
- Implements a child-centered curriculum and learning environment encouraging positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-motivation.
- Addresses challenging behaviors through observation, prevention, teaching new skills, and partnership with families.
- Documents children's progress and individualizes curriculum based on observations and anecdotal notes.
- Establishes positive interaction patterns with families and integrates IEPs for children with disabilities.
- Provides a consistent classroom routine and ensures the safety and security of children.
- Implements daily lesson plans responsive to children's needs and interests, integrating observations and developmental knowledge.
- Supervises children at all times in accordance with Head Start and daycare licensing requirements.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
- Physical exam and background checks required.
- Travel up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
- Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
