Head Start Instructional Assistant

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Possesses knowledge and understanding of early childhood development.
  • Affirms every child’s engagement in and challenge by a variety of learning experiences.
  • Completes required annual training and professional development hours.
  • Promotes the development of and ensures English Language Learners make significant progress in their primary language and English.
  • Affords each child’s interests into planning classroom activities.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy environment supporting the development and learning of preschool children while maintaining teacher-child ratios in compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Affords assistance to the Teacher in assessing children.
  • Affords assistance to the Teacher in the timely and accurate completion and maintenance of documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Promotes staff relationships fostering a climate conducive to learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Schedule

  • 8-hour shift, Monday-Friday.

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required).
