Head Start Early Childhood Education Teachers (Continuous Recruitment)
Academic Staff – Terminal (Fixed Term) position within the UW Oshkosh Head Start program, a federally funded preschool program for low-income families.
About the role
Early Childhood Education Teachers work collaboratively to develop skills and practices that support school readiness for each child and provide comprehensive services to children and families. Classroom sizes are 15–16 children. The program runs September through May/early June, with additional August work hours. The program uses the High/Scope curriculum and implements Pyramid Model and Conscious Discipline programs to support social and emotional development. Professional development opportunities and staff wellness initiatives are available. Positions are located at seven centers across Winnebago, Calumet, Outagamie, and Shawano Counties.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates individualized and developmental educational plans for children in collaboration with other stakeholders, as needed
- Mentors new teachers and students
- Maintains the safety and physical well-being of children in a designated classroom
- Maintains and documents effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to relay pertinent information and provide updates of child activities per established guidelines and regulations
- Plans and facilitates classroom programming and schedules daily classroom activities according to established curriculums
Requirements
- 4K Teacher: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and/or related field; Wisconsin Pre-Kindergarten certification #080, 086, 088, or 090
- Non-4K Teacher: Associate degree or higher in early childhood education or degree in related field with experience teaching preschool
Pay
- 4K Teachers: $48,672.75
- Non-4K Teachers: $34,184.55 – $37,709.94
