Head Start Early Childhood Education Assistant & Substitute Teachers (Continuous Recruitment)
This position is within the UW Oshkosh Head Start program, a federally funded preschool program for low-income families. Early Childhood Education Assistants and Substitute Teachers collaborate with full-time teachers and assistants to support children’s school readiness, assist with center responsibilities, and maintain a safe and sanitary environment. The program serves 384 children and their families annually across seven centers in Winnebago, Calumet, Outagamie, and Shawano Counties. Staff wellness is prioritized through reflective practice, Practice Based Coaching, and wellness initiatives. Support is provided for completing required coursework, including Child Development Associate (CDA) training, which may lead to certification and advancement.
Responsibilities
- Maintains the safety and physical well-being of children at all times and in all environments
- Engages in collaborative partnership building with children, staff, and parents to identify goals, strengths, necessary services, and other support
- Implements individualized and developmental educational plans for children
- Assists with early childhood education related tasks
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to take written and verbal instruction
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working effectively with young children
Pay
- Early Childhood Education Assistant: $15.50 - $16.36 per hour
- Substitute Teachers: $15.50 - $20.24 per hour
