Head Start Cooks (Continuous Recruitment)

About the role

Head Start Cooks work within the UW Oshkosh Head Start program, a federally funded preschool program serving low‑income families. Employees have the opportunity to work with 384 children and their families each school year across seven centers located in five cities throughout Winnebago, Calumet, Outagamie, and Shawano Counties. Staff wellness is supported through individual/group reflective practice, Practice Based Coaching, and wellness initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
• Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
• Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
• Greets customers, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation and associated activities

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to take written and verbal communication

Pay

$17.37 – $17.83 per hour
