About the role

Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy (IMSA) is seeking a Head Coach for the high school Science Olympiad Team for the 2026-2027 school year. This stipend position reports directly to the Coordinator of Athletics & Co-Curriculars.

Responsibilities

• Conduct practices covering a variety of Science Olympiad activities.
• Manage and lead the team throughout the high school season, including potential state finals.
• Work with the Coordinator of Athletics & Co-Curriculars to develop a competitive season schedule.
• Coordinate with food service staff to provide meals for athletes during off-campus events.
• Attend all practices and matches from the start of the season through potential state finals.
• Supervise and coordinate any overnight stays required for post-season competition during the state series.
• Transport students to practices and matches using IMSA vehicles, including up to a 14-passenger mini-bus.
• Complete State of Illinois mandated training modules as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience in a high school coaching, sponsor role, or club setting (preferred).
• Must pass a background check.
• Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license (no additional endorsements required).
• Willingness to complete State of Illinois mandated training modules.

Pay

Compensation is based on coaching/sponsoring experience and years involved in the activity. Details can be found in the compensation structure document.
