Head of Site Supply Chain
About the Role
As the functional lead for the Supply Chain at the manufacturing site, you are accountable for the definition and execution of all activities required to ensure timely service to customers. Reporting to the Seqirus Head of Supply Chain, you will be an important member of the Site Leadership Team, contributing to site performance, culture, safety, and quality. You will also be an essential member of the Global Supply Chain Leadership Team, contributing to overall Supply Chain strategy and aligning site operations through S&OP and individual product strategies.
This position is responsible for the site-based Supply Chain team in North America, consisting of approximately 30 employees and contractors. The role involves developing tactical and strategic plans for the site Supply Chain function, with primary objectives of creating value for Seqirus while achieving financial business targets, including Revenue and Cost.
Responsibilities
- Lead the site delivery of seasonal and pandemic campaigns in collaboration with Global Planners and Supply Chain Operations teams.
- Develop and direct the site Planning function to ensure robustness in the plan and alignment with customer contract requirements and business goals.
- Oversee all site capacity planning models and ensure accurate information is incorporated into global strategic plans.
- Analyze, develop, and implement long-term planning strategies in collaboration with internal and external teams.
- Drive and facilitate the Site Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, generating data and supporting S&OP meetings.
- Work with Global Planning & Commercial to interpret forecasts and define site processes to deliver required outcomes, including optimum inventory levels.
- Drive continuous improvement of Supply Chain planning processes and manage the deployment of new processes and applications.
- Ensure decisions are escalated with accurate financial analysis, including the manufacture of non-commercial materials (e.g., clinical trials and technology transfers).
- Lead the Annual Strain Update (ASU) and approval processes for site-owned influenza products, ensuring adherence to a Playbook approach across all departments.
- Direct campaign execution, including batch release, to ensure supply according to a locked supply plan.
- Drive pre- and post-campaign review processes to challenge assumptions, share learnings, and improve ASU approval and release timings.
- Ensure inventory integrity and management across assigned elements of the Seqirus Supply Chain network to maximize margin opportunities and minimize write-offs.
- Accountable for the value of inventory held and management processes ensuring full cGMP and financial compliance.
- Serve as the site interface with Global Procurement to prioritize site requirements for materials, goods, and services.
- Lead the data management process for SAP at a site level, ensuring data maintenance and governance align with global standards.
- Ensure the Site Supply Chain and other site functions provide current and accurate data for ERP system updates.
- Partner with peers to develop and implement Supply Chain business processes and operational systems focused on increasing operational effectiveness and cost efficiency.
- Work across all sites to achieve standardization, optimization, and alignment with other Supply Chain leaders.
- Own the control systems for inventory at the site.
- Lead and motivate the Warehouse team through the Warehouse Manager to achieve plans, schedule targets, and customer requirements.
- Assure inventory accuracy and manage all warehouse activities in accordance with cGMP, housekeeping, and Health and Safety requirements.
- Maintain warehouse KPIs and team sizes to optimize performance, safety, and cost.
- Partner with Global Logistics to ensure timely supply of product to meet export and domestic market requirements.
- Ensure pandemic readiness in alignment with Advanced Purchase Agreements (APAs), including maintaining material stock and financial accountability.
- Partner with Global Planning to deliver robust plans as part of the Pandemic S&OP process.
- Collaborate with Procurement on vendor agreements to minimize write-offs of material stock.
- Represent Global Supply Chain in the development strategy and execution plan for the full lifecycle of assigned products as a contributing member of the Core Program Team.
- Review target product profiles and identify gaps in licensed supply capabilities.
- Assess changes and impact to network strategy and locked supply plan of proposed initiatives.
- Ensure SAP Master Data is updated to reflect approved initiatives.
- Publish quarterly outlooks for assigned products to the Supply Chain Leadership Team (SCLT) and Operations Leadership Team (OLT).
Requirements
- Extensive understanding of Supply Chain operations from sourcing to product delivery.
- Preferable understanding of a vaccine supply chain process, including Regulatory and Quality elements.
- Experience working in a matrix environment where cross-collaboration is necessary.
- Interdisciplinary experience across manufacturing, planning, logistics, and purchasing.
- ERP system knowledge, with preference for SAP.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to address complexity and problem-solving.
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or a technical field relevant to the industry.
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required.
- 10 years of relevant experience, including 4+ years of leadership experience.
Key Relationships
Internally, this role requires collaboration with various global and local functions, including finance, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, logistics, and procurement. Externally, the role may involve interaction with key customers to support Commercial strategies and executive-level engagement for strategy development across the Supply Chain function and operations.
Decision Making and Innovation
The role involves addressing both routine and non-routine issues, with decisions impacting hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, tens of millions in product costs, and millions in operational costs. The ability to quickly assess situations, develop action plans, align stakeholders, and guide implementation is critical. Innovative thinking is essential to address unique business challenges and drive both evolutionary and revolutionary solutions to complex supply chain needs.
Travel Requirements
Minimal domestic and international travel may be required.
