For our client, a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space, we are seeking a Head of Safety Health & Environment to join their team. This role will lead continuous improvement work focused on process discipline, productivity, and measurable operating gains. You will partner with operational leaders and project stakeholders to standardize workflows, identify bottlenecks, and improve execution quality. The position offers the opportunity to create measurable efficiency gains and scalable operational improvements within a life sciences environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Responsibilities
- Lead the EHSS workstream for U.S. small molecule projects, collaborating with project leadership
- Develop and implement EHSS and sustainability programs ensuring regulatory compliance
- Provide EHSS risk assessments and strategic support for site selection and growth initiatives
- Establish EHSS standards for facility design and operational readiness activities
- Manage Process Safety Management and risk assessments for new operations and facilities
- Oversee sustainability initiatives and ensure alignment with company objectives
- Coordinate inspections and audits, ensuring timely resolution of compliance findings
- Cultivate a culture of safety and continuous improvement, providing updates to senior leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental health & safety, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of progressive EHSS leadership experience in regulated environments
- Experience with major capital projects and regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical sector
- Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA regulations, and industrial hygiene
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and sustainability in chemical manufacturing
- Experience with risk assessments and safety analyses like PHA and HAZOP
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and liaise with senior management and regulatory bodies
Pay
$155,700 – $181,650 annually
