Head of Quality Assurance / Quality Control

About the role

The consumer products manufacturer is seeking a Head of Quality Assurance & Quality Control to lead their quality department. This role involves formalizing their Quality Management System (QMS), implementing inspection protocols on the production floor, and establishing accountability structures for their Quality Control (QC) team.

Responsibilities

• Build or rebuild the company's Quality Management System (QMS)
• Apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) on the production floor
• Manage or supervise QC teams, both directly and indirectly
• Enforce customer and internal specification compliance on the production floor
• Fluent in data analysis, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), defect tracking, scrap/yield metrics, and presenting findings to leadership
• Handle customer quality disputes and document corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, SQF, or other relevant certifications
• Use QMS software such as TraceGains, MasterControl, or similar tools
• Hold relevant certifications such as PCQI, FSMA, or have experience with QMS software
• Be available for work in Santa Ana, CA

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in building or rebuilding a Quality Management System (QMS) in a manufacturing environment
• At least 5 years of experience managing or supervising Quality Control (QC) teams, either directly or indirectly
• Production floor inspection experience, ensuring compliance with customer and internal specifications
• Data fluency, including proficiency in KPIs, defect tracking, scrap/yield metrics, and presenting findings to leadership
• Experience handling customer quality disputes and documenting corrective actions
• Knowledge of California manufacturing compliance regulations (CDFA/CDPH)
• Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish (a plus)
• Experience in packaging, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), aerospace, food, pharmaceuticals, or related industries
