About the role

Remitly is looking for a Head of Public Relations & Corporate Communications to run our global PR and communications function, spanning corporate, product, executive, and financial communications for a publicly traded fintech company operating in 175+ countries.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operational infrastructure for PR and communications — media strategy, content calendar, approval workflows, messaging framework, and performance measurement.
  • Work collaboratively with product leaders to optimize the cadence and impact of external messaging.
  • Own the press release calendar, translating the product roadmap into a structured release cadence — and reinvent Remitly's press release voice from boilerplate to a distinctive, creative style that earns attention on its own.
  • Respond to media inquiries and shape the company's public-facing messaging.
  • Secure media profiles, speaking engagements, and award recognition that build executive credibility.
  • Partner with Investor Relations and Finance to align earnings communications and investor narratives with broader company messaging.
  • Own the company's newsroom or, owning the publishing calendar and content decisions.
  • Plan and execute major campaign moments — product launches, events — coordinating with internal teams and agencies against budget.
  • Source and create data-driven stories that will land coverage and position Remitly as a category and thought leader.
  • Work with Legal, Finance, Policy and Brand to manage and execute a crisis communications plan of action when needed.
  • Define and track key metrics to measure the performance and reach of corporate and financial storytelling efforts.
  • Implement AI tools and workflows that increase the team's output and efficiency.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in public relations or corporate communications, with direct ownership of a communications function at a public company or in a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience building or overhauling communications operations — editorial calendars, approval workflows, and messaging frameworks that drive consistent output.
  • Track record of securing executive visibility through top-tier media placements, speaking engagements, and industry recognition.
  • Working knowledge of earnings cycles, investor expectations, and disclosure requirements, with experience aligning messaging with Finance and Investor Relations.
  • Experience owning a corporate newsroom, blog, or similar owned-media channel as a primary storytelling platform, not just a press-release archive.
  • Experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder programs — product launches, flagship events, integrated campaigns — on budget and with outside agencies.
  • Crisis communications experience, including developing and executing response plans under pressure.
  • Strong news judgment and storytelling skills, translating data and business developments into compelling narratives.
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve communications workflows and team efficiency.
  • Willingness to execute hands-on, not just direct, with strong cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a communications team.
  • Experience managing crisis communications and reputation management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with social media and digital marketing.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and legal issues.
