About BuilderBase

BuilderBase is the platform for running hackathons and builder events, and for connecting everyone who makes them happen: organizers, sponsors, venues, mentors, and judges. Organizers use BuilderBase to run their events end to end, and our sponsorship marketplace connects the companies who want to reach developers with the events that need them. The marketplace is live, it is already attracting real sponsor interest from well-known developer brands, and it is one of the most promising parts of our business.

About the Role

This is a builder's role. Today, sponsorship deals happen because someone on our team manually matches each sponsor to the right event and shepherds the deal through. It works, but it depends on one person. We want you to take that motion and turn it into a repeatable, growing business. We already have the Top Tier logo demand. You will own the sponsorship marketplace end to end, from building a pipeline of sponsors to closing deals and keeping sponsors coming back. You will work closely with our founders and product team, and you will be measured on the sponsorship revenue and repeat business you drive. If you like operating with autonomy, moving fast, and owning a number, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Own the sponsorship marketplace day to day, from strategy through execution.
  • Build and grow a pipeline of sponsors, the companies that want to get in front of developers.
  • Run the full deal cycle: source the sponsor, match them to the right event, close the deal, make sure it is delivered, and bring them back for the next one. This is a revenue generating role.
  • Focus your hands-on effort on the highest value events, and help smaller events run self-serve.
  • Prioritize sponsor demand in the markets where it concentrates, primarily the US and key European tech hubs.
  • Feed what you learn back to the product team so the matching and workflow keep improving.
  • Help turn each win into proof, through sponsor results, testimonials, and reusable content.
  • Work together with our product team to gather product feedback and sync up weekly.

Requirements

  • Around 3 to 5 years in developer relations, partnerships, or a commercial role, ideally close to developers, hackathons, or developer tools.
  • A track record of owning deals from first conversation through to signed and delivered.
  • Strong relationship skills and comfort with outbound, brokering between two sides, and negotiating value beyond cash, such as credits, hardware, swag, and mentorship.
  • An existing network, or a fast way into one, across the US and European tech-event scenes.
  • A startup mindset: happy to do the hands-on, unscalable work early, and to build the playbook as you go.
  • Organized and self-directed, able to run a pipeline without waiting to be told what to do next.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with community, hackathons, events, or ecosystem marketing.
  • Previously owned a business area and built it from scratch to commercial traction.

Additional Information

BuilderBase is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and welcome applicants of all backgrounds. This role is remote-friendly and can be structured as full-time or part-time to start. Compensation is open for discussion, and will be based on experience, fit, and location. Open to equity and co-ownership.
