Head of Online Experience

The Sauna Place · United States · 1 wk ago
RemoteRemoteManagement$90k–$120k/yrFull-time

The Role

The Sauna Place is a luxury home wellness brand scaling from $20M to $100M+ across three brands and two e-commerce platforms. Our sites have been lightly managed for too long, and we need a hands-on web leader to own them as products, not as marketing collateral.

You will be the merchandising owner for The Sauna Place site (our primary revenue driver) from day one, with Heritage and Cedro layering in over the next 12 months as you partner with our CPO and the product managers leading those brands.

A Note on Level and Growth
This role is publicly titled "Head of Online Experience" and internally leveled as a "Senior Manager," with a clear promotion path to "Director" as scope expands across all three brands over time. We chose this framing intentionally: the title reflects the ownership and impact we expect from day one, and the level reflects our stage as we build the web function from the ground up.

The right operator will not stay at senior manager long. We focus on long-term fit and career growth potential for every addition to the team.

Role Logistics

  • Location: Remote or hybrid, can be located anywhere in the US

  • On-site: Mandatory monthly trip to Cookeville, TN, to work with the rest of the growth team in person

  • Compensation: $90,000 to $120,000 base, plus company bonus

  • Career path: Senior Manager level with a clear promotion path to Director

  • Reports to: VP of Growth

What You Will Own

  • Conversion rate. Maintain a 2 percent or greater average CVR on The Sauna Place site, partnering with growth marketing on testing and optimization

  • User experience. From navigation to collection formatting to checkout friction, you will think customer-first as we optimize conversion and retention

  • Technical site health. Page speed, Core Web Vitals, broken links, schema, analytics tagging across GA4, GTM, and ad pixels

  • Product and merchandising content. New product launches, listing accuracy, on-page SEO, and the throughput of the content team

  • Roadmap. What ships next, what does not, and why

What You Will Do

  • Manage the content team directly. Today there are 3 international contractors covering copy and content, and 1 IC focused on larger infrastructure projects

  • Partner with VP to develop and run a live web roadmap with clear priorities, owners, and ship dates

  • Partner with growth marketing on CRV testing. Hypothesize, build, measure, iterate

  • Partner with the CPO and Product Managers for Heritage and Cedro as those sites layer into your scope

  • Manage Shopify themes, apps, and digital storefronts for The Sauna Place and Heritage

  • Coordinate with the Cedro team on Squarespace updates and the Cedro Custom configurator integration

  • Audit and resolve tagging, tracking, and analytics issues across all three sites

  • Brief, review, and ship product launch pages, blog content, and landing pages

  • Surface and resolve site issues before they hit revenue

What You Bring

  • Required:

    • 5+ years owning/managing e-commerce or content-driven sites with measurable conversion impact
    • DTC or specialty retail experience
    • Hands-on Shopify expertise. Theme architecture, Liquid, app ecosystem, Storefront API familiarity
    • Demonstrated CRV ownership with concrete results you can speak to
    • Analytics fluency. GA4, GTM, attribution basics, A/B testing
    • Experience managing content or creative contractors
    • Comfortable working with AI assistance. We use Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor heavily for build work
  • Nice to have:

    • Hands-on Squarespace experience
    • 3D or interactive product tooling experience
    • Technical SEO depth (schema, site architecture, Core Web Vitals)
    • Email or lifecycle marketing exposure
    • Experience scaling a web function from "lightly managed" to mature
