About the Role

You will be responsible for taking ownership of a product, process, or company from 1 to 100, working closely with the CEO and COO on market strategy, sourcing, diligence, deal execution, and post-close value creation planning.

Responsibilities

  • Build the acquisition engine for a single target vertical of service-based businesses
  • Map the full market of companies and develop a deep understanding of the opportunity set
  • Develop a practical operating playbook for the vertical, including operating model, margin profile, core processes, technology opportunities, and a six-month transformation plan
  • Identify how technology and AI agents can transform service-based businesses by automating workflows, improving margins, increasing throughput, and creating more scalable operating models
  • Partner directly with the CEO and COO on market strategy, sourcing, diligence, deal execution, and post-close value creation planning

Requirements

  • 3–7 years in private equity, corporate development, search, investment banking, or a similarly deal-oriented role
  • Direct experience sourcing service-based businesses, ideally through proprietary or thematic sourcing
  • Built market maps, identified acquisition targets, ran outreach, qualified opportunities, and managed a deal pipeline
  • Familiar with $2–25M EBITDA service-based businesses and what makes them attractive: margin profile, customer concentration, retention, labor model, workflow complexity, and growth levers
  • Understand how technology can transform service-based businesses, including where AI agents can automate manual work, improve customer delivery, and unlock operating leverage
  • Comfortable translating market work and diligence into an actionable acquisition thesis, technology roadmap, and operating plan

Qualifications

  • Self-starter with an obsessive drive
  • Can think independently and craft a strategic plan and execute it end-to-end
  • Able to deal with complex problems and design creative products/solutions to solve them
  • Able to deal with problems at an abstracted level and uncertainty
  • A tinkerer who loves building products that delight
  • Willing to persevere to take something from great to remarkable
  • A good person to work with
