The Role
The Head of Legal is responsible for ensuring the legal quality of all matters handled by the business-immigration practice, including advice, preparation, and government-facing strategy.
Responsibilities
- Owns the legal quality of every matter type, including advice, preparation, and government-facing strategy across the main employment-based categories.
- Accountable for the quality standard on drafting, RFE and denial response, client communication, and matter strategy; sets the review culture and escalation ladder.
- Runs hiring, leveling, and performance for attorneys and professional staff, including a clear, fair bar for who stays in a client-facing seat.
- Carries a serious business-development and account-retention load: origination, expansion, and proof of earning trust against incumbent firms.
- Partners on tooling, knowledge management, and training, setting expectations for AI and similar tools in the practice.
Requirements
- A decade or more in business and corporate employment-based immigration, with hands-on work across the main visa and green-card streams.
- Demonstrated origination or a portable, reference-checkable book.
- Proven experience managing at least ten professionals (attorneys and/or paralegals).
- California bar in good standing; U.S. work authorization or path as applicable.
