Head of Global Strategic Sourcing
About the role
The Head of Global Strategic Sourcing is responsible for establishing and leading a scalable, enterprise-wide strategic sourcing function that enables the organization’s scientific, operational, and business objectives. This role serves as the single accountable owner globally for strategic sourcing processes, systems, risk management, governance, and performance measurement, while enabling function-specific execution models aligned to the unique needs of Clinical Operations, Research, Technical Operations, and Corporate Functions.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Own and execute the enterprise strategic sourcing vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and functional needs.
- Establish and maintain global ownership of sourcing processes, policies, systems, risk frameworks, and KPIs.
- Define and govern a center-led operating model with function-tailored execution.
- Lead supplier segmentation, category strategies, and preferred supplier frameworks.
- Monitor and analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Build strategic supplier partnerships supporting innovation, capacity, quality, and risk mitigation.
- Partner with Finance and functional leaders to drive cost optimization and value realization.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and all relevant laws and regulations.
- Provide sourcing tools, playbooks, and guidance to function-aligned teams.
- Build and develop a high-performing strategic sourcing organization.
- Act as an advisor to leadership on sourcing strategy and enterprise trade-offs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 13+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing or procurement leadership.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, processes, and strategies in regulated environments.
- Demonstrated success negotiating and contracting with suppliers.
- Deep expertise in enterprise process design, sourcing systems, risk management, and KPIs.
- Strong executive-level stakeholder management and influence skills.
Qualifications
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry strongly preferred.

Rhythm offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and more. The company also provides a competitive salary range of $230,000 - $330,000, with potential for a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance. This role may be eligible for additional compensation such as restricted stock units.
Pay
The expected salary range for this position is $230,000 - $330,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
Schedule
This role is based out of our corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office in coordination with their department and business needs. This role may involve some travel.
