Head of FP&A
Location: Remote
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
About The Opportunity
A rapidly growing, private equity-backed industrial services platform is seeking an FP&A Lead to join its leadership team at an exciting early stage of growth. The company is building a scaled platform through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions across the industrial services sector. This is a high-visibility, high-impact opportunity for an FP&A professional who wants to build rather than inherit an established function.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the FP&A Lead will have significant ownership in developing the financial planning, forecasting, reporting, modeling, KPI, and performance management infrastructure needed to support a rapidly growing, highly acquisitive organization. This is a true build-and-scale opportunity. The role will initially operate as a hands-on individual contributor, with the opportunity to help shape the FP&A function and ultimately build and lead a team as the platform continues to grow.
Responsibilities
- Own the annual budgeting, rolling forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes across the organization and its operating companies.
- Lead monthly performance reporting, including variance analysis, EBITDA bridges, KPIs, cash flow analysis, and updated financial outlooks.
- Build and maintain consolidated financial models covering the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, liquidity, and scenario analysis.
- Develop scalable management reporting, KPI frameworks, analytical tools, and financial processes that provide leadership with clear visibility into business performance.
- Partner closely with operating leaders to evaluate performance, identify risks and opportunities, challenge assumptions, and translate financial results into actionable business insights.
- Support acquisition diligence and financial modeling, including quality of earnings analysis, normalized EBITDA, working capital, and other transaction considerations.
- Translate acquisition underwriting into post-close budgets and forecasts and track performance against the original investment case and value creation plan.
- Integrate acquired businesses into forecasting, KPI, and management reporting processes and provide clear visibility into organic versus acquired growth.
- Partner with the CFO on executive leadership, private equity sponsor, board, and lender reporting and analysis.
- Work closely with the Corporate Controller to ensure management reporting is supported by accurate financial information and scalable processes and systems.
- Support strategic initiatives, capital allocation decisions, and other financial analyses as the organization grows.
- Help define the future FP&A organizational structure and, over time, recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing FP&A team.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, transaction advisory, or a related analytical finance role.
- Strong FP&A foundation across budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, management reporting, and KPI development.
- Experience within a private equity-backed, highly acquisitive, multi-entity or multi-location organization strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting M&A transactions, including financial diligence, acquisition modeling, and post-close performance tracking.
- Strong understanding of EBITDA, cash flow, working capital, and other key financial metrics used within private equity-backed organizations.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities.
- Experience with business intelligence, planning, and financial reporting tools preferred.
- Industrial services, field services, distribution, or another multi-location services environment is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.
- MBA, CPA, or CFA helpful but not required.
Leadership Profile
This role is well suited for a hands-on, analytical FP&A professional who thrives in an early-stage environment and is energized by growth, M&A, and building infrastructure. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating as an individual contributor while creating structure in an evolving organization. They will bring strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities along with the commercial judgment to challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and translate financial information into actionable business insights. The ideal candidate will be:
- A builder who is energized by creating an FP&A function rather than inheriting an established one.
- Highly analytical, intellectually curious, and commercially minded.
- Comfortable operating through ambiguity and creating structure as processes and systems evolve.
- A strong business partner who can work effectively with operating leadership and challenge assumptions constructively.
- A clear and concise communicator with the executive presence to interact with senior leadership, board members, lenders, and private equity investors.
- Collaborative, low-ego, and comfortable working across Finance, Operations, Corporate Development, and other functions.
- Hands-on and self-directed, with a strong ownership mentality.
- Motivated by the opportunity to build and eventually lead an FP&A team as the organization scales.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a high-growth industrial services platform at an early stage and have meaningful ownership in how the organization builds and manages its financial infrastructure. Rather than stepping into an established FP&A function, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build the models, reporting, KPIs, processes, and analytical capabilities that will support the company’s next phase of growth.
The role offers significant visibility and direct exposure to the CFO, executive leadership, operating companies, private equity sponsor, and acquisition process. As the platform continues to grow through acquisitions and organic expansion, the scope of the role will grow as well, creating a natural path toward broader leadership responsibility and the opportunity to build and lead the FP&A organization.
