About the role
We are growing fast—over 1,500 clients, £2 million turnover planned in the next 12 months, and global expansion underway. As Head of Financial Risk & Compliance, you will take ownership of all areas of financial compliance, including FCA reporting, ensuring submissions are accurate and on time. You will work closely with Finance, Tech, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and third-party consultants to develop and enhance our regulatory risk framework, mentor teams, and foster a culture of awareness and diligence around financial risk and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Implement and embed the regulatory compliance Risk Framework, Standards, Procedures, and Policies
- Ensure GoodBox complies with FCA and acquirer requirements
- Conduct ongoing reviews of all business risk and financial compliance policies
- Oversee all FCA reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely submission
- Collaborate with acquirers, suppliers, and third parties to integrate financial compliance throughout the ecosystem
- Provide audit reports to acquirers as requested
- Monitor and advise on changes in the regulatory landscape that may affect GoodBox
- Own and advise on financial governance and regulation aligned with corporate objectives
- Monitor new and existing clients in line with FCA requirements and internal Risk Policy
- Identify and implement a transaction monitoring system
- Own the process for identifying high-risk transactions/clients and investigate anomalies
- Orchestrate the monthly Risk Review Meeting
- Enhance controls library and document the regulatory risk assessment process
- Manage risk assessments and educate teams on methodology
- Proactively address control gaps and improve processes
- Design and implement management information (MI) to support Board and leadership decisions
- Maintain a healthy compliance culture through training and awareness programs
- Assist the commercial function with procurement linked to compliance
- Act as a business advisor on customer-specific terms and conditions
- Address new challenges in the financial compliance program
Requirements
- Background in financial regulation, compliance, or legal, with familiarity of FCA expectations and fraud/risk management
- Experience in a Financial Regulation Advisory, Risk, or Governance role
- Diligent, methodical, and efficiency-driven
- Ability to translate financial compliance into customer value propositions
- Strong problem-solving skills, breaking complex issues into logical, data-driven priorities
- Builds rapport quickly and puts people at ease
- Curious, impact-driven, and able to demonstrate influence on past projects
- Skilled at making business cases and persuading stakeholders
- Thrives in fast-moving, dynamic, and unstructured environments
