Role Responsibilities
- Oversee development and management of the company’s annual financial plan, department budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand and challenge financial assumptions and ensure alignment with company goals.
- Prepare detailed financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives, go to market plans, product development, and investment decisions.
- Monitor key financial metrics, including revenue, expenses, profitability, and cash flow, providing variance analysis and recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Support investor relations by preparing financial reports, presentations, and narratives for stakeholders.
- Contribute to internal company meeting presentations and deliver presentations as needed.
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects and analyses, including M&A activities, scenario planning, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Key qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; 12+ years of experience in FP&A, preferably leading a team.
- Experience working with large data sets and complex models.
- Comfortable operating in a high-ambiguity, fast-evolving business environment.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with proficiency in Python.
- Understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and key financial metrics.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
- Prowess in working collaboratively across functions and levels of an organization.
- Strong attention to detail, with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in both technology and life sciences industries.
- Familiarity with financial planning software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, SAP).
- MBA and 2+ years of experience in investment banking.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
Pay Range
For individuals hired to work in California, Science Corporation is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The base salary range for this full-time position is $190,000 – $250,000 + equity + benefits. Individual pay is determined by various factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
