Head of Design
We're looking for a Head of Design to define how product experiences are built at Opto. The role involves personally leading design on our most critical product surfaces, shaping the product itself, and working alongside product and engineering to define direction, challenge decisions, and ensure coherent, end-to-end experiences.
- Own product design as a function: Set the standard for quality and usability.
- Define product experiences: Establish principles for simplicity, clarity, and trust from onboarding through core workflows.
- Work alongside product and engineering: Define direction, challenge decisions, and ensure coherent, end-to-end experiences.
- Push for simplicity and clarity: Simplify, cut scope, and focus on what drives user value.
- Bring design into strategic decisions: Shape roadmap, prioritize, and approach problems.
- Lead and grow the design team: Set a high bar for craft, thinking, and execution.
Required Skills
- Strong product sense and high quality bar: Know what good looks like and push teams to reach it.
- Comfort with ambiguity: Create clarity in evolving environments and help teams move forward.
- AI-native mindset: Incorporate AI deeply into workflow and have a point of view on its role.
- B2B product experience: Experience in fintech or data-heavy environments with complex workflows.
- Experience leading designers: Leading designers or senior IC ready to own a function.
Background
- 10+ Years of product design experience:
- Zero to one product design experience: Built products or major features from scratch.
- Experience contributing to or reaching product-market fit: Understand how design drives learning, iteration, and adoption.
Why Opto
- A real product problem to solve: Shape how a complex, high-stakes product should work from first principles.
- High-leverage domain: Private markets are large, growing, and structurally underserved by software.
- Direct access to users: Direct access to users with distribution and relationships.
- Design is core to the strategy: Design plays a central role in how decisions are made.
