About the role

We are looking for a Head of Communications who will own and drive Multiverse's media presence and external narrative in the US and Europe. This is not a vendor-management role — it demands a hands-on communications leader with an established network of journalist and media relationships who can engage press directly, shaping how the world understands Multiverse Computing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Media Relations – US & Europe

  • Own the journalist and media relationship network across top-tier technology, business, and AI press in the US and Europe — and cultivate it continuously.

  • Pitch and place stories directly with reporters and editors, without intermediary agencies, maximising earned media coverage for products, funding, partnerships, and thought leadership.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for inbound media enquiries; develop and enforce a clear, fast response process.

  • Build and maintain a living map of key media contacts, editorial calendars, and coverage opportunities by region and outlet.

  • In-House PR Capability & Reduced Vendor Dependence

  • Transition core PR activities from external agencies to an in-house model, ensuring quality and speed without sacrificing coverage reach.

  • Define the appropriate use and scope of external PR partners, managing them as focused specialists rather than primary communicators.

  • Develop scalable processes and tooling for press release drafting, media outreach, coverage tracking, and crisis response.

  • Executive & CEO Positioning

  • Drive media visibility for the CEO and leadership team through interviews, by-lines, speaking engagements, and editorial placements.

  • Prepare executives for media interactions: briefings, Q&A prep, messaging discipline.

  • Build a forward-looking calendar of high-impact media and industry events where Multiverse leadership should be visible.

  • Content & Narrative

  • Write and edit press releases, executive statements, op-eds, and strategic announcements to the highest editorial standard.

  • Translate complex quantum and AI concepts into compelling, credible narratives accessible to business and mainstream media audiences.

  • Ensure consistency between external communications and company positioning across product launches, partnerships, and milestones.

  • Internal Alignment & Crisis Communications

  • Align communications strategy with Marketing, Product, Legal, and Commercial teams before each external moment.

  • Own crisis and issues management communications — rapid response, message control, stakeholder coordination.

  • Report on coverage quality, sentiment, share of voice, and earned media impact to senior leadership.

Experience & Profile

  • Established, direct relationships with journalists and editors at major technology and business media in the US and/or Europe (e.g. FT, Reuters, Bloomberg, TechCrunch, Wired, VentureBeat, WSJ, The Economist).

  • Demonstrable track record of securing high-impact earned media coverage through direct outreach — not solely via agency relationships.

  • Significant experience in communications or PR within AI, enterprise software, deep tech, or complex B2B environments.

  • Exceptional writing and editorial skills in English; ability to produce publication-ready content independently.

  • Proven experience reducing external agency dependency by building in-house PR capability.

  • Comfortable operating at pace in a global, multicultural scale-up environment.

  • Hightly valued experience managing communications for a company undergoing rapid international growth or a major funding/IPO moment.

  • Existing contacts in the US market specifically — the ability to activate US media relationships from day one.

  • Familiarity with the quantum computing or advanced AI ecosystem.

  • Experience supporting C-level executive positioning and media preparation.
