About the role
The Whitefish Bay Public Library seeks a collaborative and service-driven leader to serve as the Head of Circulation Services (CS). This role supervises circulation assistants and shelvers, supports excellent patron experiences, and coordinates financial and technology workflows.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Circulation Services Department
- Staff Leadership: Hire, train, supervise, and schedule staff; conduct performance reviews; approve timesheets for payroll; develop, implement, and train on policies and procedures.
- Materials Management: Oversee day-to-day service and activities; supervise maintenance and check-in of serials and newspapers; order supplies; process new materials and mending/binding of existing materials.
- Financial Management: Reconcile cash register daily; code invoices; submit invoices for approval; reconcile and deposit circulation monies.
- Technology Management: Collaborate with MCFLS staff to troubleshoot and resolve ILS and related circulation technology issues; oversee and support public and staff technology; plan, implement, and maintain the Library’s Technology Plan.
- Patron Service: Create and emphasize a positive, welcoming, and helpful environment; handle patron issues/complaints/problems; maintain confidentiality of patron information.
- Policies & Procedures: Maintain knowledge about the circulation system; interpret and implement policies/procedures; inform staff of changes or updates.
- Teamwork: Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships; maintain a professional demeanor; contribute to the overall well-being of the workplace.
- Professional Leadership: Implement the Strategic Plan; participate in Library Leadership Team meetings; attend and contribute to MCFLS Circulation Services Committee meetings; participate in regional, state, and national organizations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a college or university, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 1-year public library experience
- 1-year supervisory experience
- Some customer service experience
- Some accounts payable experience
- Some technology management experience

Pay
- Family $250 per month
- Individual $125 per month
Schedule
- 11 Paid Holidays per year
- 6 hours for each full month of employment
