About the role

The Modelling & Advanced Analytics team, within Actuarial - Global Pricing, supports the broader global Actuarial function in calibrating commercial lines rating solutions through predictive modeling and market insights. The team primarily focuses on North America and collaborates with Product Actuaries, Underwriters, and other teams within Global Pricing to deliver best-in-class statistical modeling, data science, and technological solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Product Actuaries and Underwriting across North America to build and maintain advanced statistical modeling pipelines that form the basis for rating tools and support business decisions.
  • Ensure timely delivery of a North America prioritized modeling portfolio on AIG's modeling platforms – for coded models, the platform of choice is AWS Sagemaker AI where Actuaries create, train, and deploy predictive models used to calibrate raters, and provide oversight on non-code pipelines (e.g., Radar) where required.
  • Lead delivery of Radar models for North America, ensuring best-practice build, documentation, controls, and governance.
  • Lead the training and support of Actuaries in their use of advanced modeling and analytics approaches, acting as an independent subject matter leader and coach, and driving adoption of AI-enabled tools and best practices across North America.
  • Lead the enhancement and standardization of scalable modeling processes and tools being applied across AIG's North America product portfolio.
  • Research and develop cutting-edge algorithmic techniques to deliver transformational improvements in process and data quality through use of data science and technology, including evaluating and embedding appropriate AI/GenAI techniques and tooling, and influencing senior stakeholders on approach and adoption.
  • Take ownership of projects utilizing Agile planning approaches, providing end-to-end technical leadership, applying rigorous coding standards in reviewing the work of others and managing multiple junior resources.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience; particularly in Technical Pricing, Actuarial, or predictive modeling.
  • Degree in a mathematical or computer science related discipline.
  • Very comfortable coding in R, Python, or other language popular for data science, with strong software engineering practices (version control, testing, code review, and reproducible pipelines).
  • Experience in using cloud platforms (such as AWS, GCP, Azure) and purpose-built solutions such as Emblem/Radar to deliver modeling pipelines is highly preferable, including deploying and maintaining models in production; experience leading delivery and governance of AWS and Radar modeling pipelines is a strong preference.
  • AI fluent: practical experience using AI/GenAI tools to accelerate analytics delivery (e.g., coding assistance, documentation, testing, exploratory analysis) with appropriate controls.
  • Experience establishing and embedding best-practice ways of working for AI-enabled analytics (model risk considerations, documentation standards, validation, and governance) across North America.
  • Expertise in Excel, SQL, or other programming languages will be useful.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business, collaboration, and time management skills, responsive to service needs and operational demands.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in working within an Agile framework is preferable, including ownership of delivery plans and mentoring others.
